Wet-look sealer for aggregate and concrete surfaces

Agreseal aggregate sealer is a deep penetrating, solvent-based acrylic sealer that provides a glossy, wet look to the aggregate. Agreseal is recommended as a two-coat system with a durable surface ideal for pedestrian and light vehicle traffic. Agreseal repels water and enhances the colour of aggregates and concrete, while protecting the surface against most stains, such as grease and oil.

Benefits

  • Improves the surface performance of the concrete
  • Enhances concrete and aggregate colours
  • It helps protect against freeze/thaw damage
  • Protects against most stains and many household chemicals
  • Repels grease, oil, and water
  • Non-yellowing glossy wet look
  • Low maintenance and improved cleaning
  • Easily recoated

Applications

Sealing New Exposed Aggregate Surfaces

Etch the uncoated surface with EcoSafe Etch or EcoSafe Ultra Etch, as outlined in the relevant TDS.

Observe ambient application Conditions noted in the TDS.

Ensure that the surface is clean and dry.

If the surface is affected by white efflorescence, broom over with clean PaveCoat Thinners to dissolve and dissipate all salts before sealing.

Stir thoroughly before use.

1st Coat: Dilute Agreseal up to 50% PaveCoat Thinners

Apply one even coat using a soft bristle broom, roller or spray at the rate of 3 – 5m2/L.

Note: Avoid ponding or pooling. Light mist spray or roller application techniques will not ensure adequate surface penetration or long-term coating performance.

2nd Coat: Apply without solvent dilution in the same manner as the first coat.

If an inadequate seal thickness is applied on newly exposed aggregate, some efflorescence (salt whitening) may occur. This white powder can usually be washed off easily and should cease after several months.

The application of one or two additional coats of Agreseal can prevent the appearance of efflorescence or white salts.

Sealing & Resealing Existing Exposed Aggregate

Before commencement, determine whether the existing Aggregate has been previously sealed. To determine an existing coating, refer to the Nutech Coating Test Kit for detailed instructions or contact Nutech Paint.

Very old, incompatible, delaminating problem sealers:

  • These types of coatings or sealers should be removed entirely. Stripping with EcoSafe Strip Industrial (refer to the relevant TDS) is recommended to remove all existing coatings.
  • After coating removal, refer to the recommendations for uncoated existing exposed aggregate.

Compatible, previously sealed surfaces

This surface will require reactivation to improve inter-coat adhesion between compatible sealers.

Before reactivation, the exposed aggregate surface should be free from lichen, moss, oil and other debris.

Refer to the EcoSafe Moss Rid and/or EcoSafe Degreaser TDS for further recommendations.

NOTE: To reactivate an existing compatible sealer, using Reactivating Solvent will help improve adhesion to the existing sealer.

A test patch should be performed and assessed before sealing the area. Should the test patch fail,  removal of the old sealer, acid etching, and high-pressure water cleaning will be required before applying Agreseal.

Uncoated existing exposed aggregate

Thoroughly clean using EcoSafe Degreaser. Refer to the relevant TDS for further recommendations.

Etch an uncoated surface with EcoSafe Etch or EcoSafe Ultra Etch as outlined in the relevant TDS.

Apply one even coat using a soft-bristled broom, roller, or spray at a rate of 3–5 m²/L.

Note: Avoid ponding or pooling. Light mist spray or roller application techniques will not ensure adequate surface penetration or long-term coating performance.

2nd Coat: Apply without solvent dilution in the same manner as the first coat.
